MotivationalMonday

I hope you enjoyed your weekend and if you are in Michigan, I hope you enjoyed the weather!

I have officially launched my 30 DAY CHALLENGE!

I do not, I repeat DO NOT like getting up early in the morning to workout! However, I noticed after a long days of work, I like to come home and unwind. I always told myself, “Go to the gym after work”. To my surprise I never did lol.

I will admit, I have changed a lot my eating habits. Now, when I go grocery shopping I pick up more fruits instead of sweets. My biggest down fall in getting the body healthy lifestyle I want is working out. WORKING OUT IS HUGE! Just doing 30 minutes of cardio and strength training a day will help a lot.

Eating right and working out goes hand and hand. Eating right is  80% of weight lossThe other 20% is working out

Don’t cut my head off now, I am not saying you cannot eat any sweets or your favorite fattening meals (I love mashed potatoes, short ribs, and cake!). What I am saying is for you to eat less of it. We are all entitled to a cheat meal every now and then. However, for this 30 day challenge I want you to eat clean!

Eating clean means, eat foods that will provide your body with energy (veggies, fruits, baked meats, water, salmon, etc.). Instead of you taking the elevator at work, take the steps. Instead of you parking next to the door, park far so you can walk. If you have a busy schedule, that is okay. Workout at home! If I cannot make it to the gym I watch a few videos online.

Everyone is different though. Working out at home may be a great thing for some people to do, and others may prefer to go to the gym. Whichever you prefer, just GET MOVING!

Here is some workout videos you can do from home:

I must say, I have done several of her videos, and you definitely feel the burn!

Today, I went to the gym around 6am. I jogged on the treadmill for 10 minutes with no breaks (that was a huge accomplishment for me), I worked on my arms and my abs. HAVING A MADE UP MIND is key to reaching your fitness and health goals. Being determined will get you through the tough times.

The 30 day challenge starts today and ends June 23, 2016.

I always find when I’m in the habit of exercising and eating well it becomes less of a chore… I’m trying to cut out a lot of processed sugar from my diet. I know it makes me feel like crud. Easier said than done though…

I had struggled with cutting out sugars and processed food from my diet as well. What I do to avoid eating processed foods or sugary foods is buy more food that I can cook, and I buy a lot of fruit. Apples and grapes give me that sweet taste that chocolate or cake would give me. I know a lot of people meal prep for the week. I have not tried to that yet though. It’s okay though, as long as you’re taking it one day at a time, you’ll get there in due time. Don’t stress it! If you want to join the challenge, I can defiantly help with keeping you motivated to hit your health and fitness goals 😊

I LOVE that you are so honest with yourself! And I also LOVE that you’re not talking about an “all-or-nothing” approach! I eat a plant-based, whole foods, sugar-free diet at home. But when we go to a family dinner or out for lunch, I eat WHATEVER I want (happens like twice a month)! That is how it works best for me.
I think we should encourage people to make healthy eating something they enjoy doing. Not something they hate because it means they are NOT ALLOWED to eat anything else.
Same thing goes for working out. As you say, 30 minutes a day will bring you so many benefits! Before you know it, you’re addicted!
And I will definitely try the dancing ab workout!! Looks so fun!!

Exactly! People get stuck in the mind set of restriction (what they can and cannot eat) when they are going through the process of obtaining a healthy and fitness life style. I just did one of the videos yesterday and you defiantly feel the burn lol. Whenever you do one, let me know how it goes 😊

I love that you posted some tips on incidental exercise like taking the stairs and parking a bit further away than usual ❤ People always go on about the gym to me, but I have the sort of metabolism that means I don't gain weight easily, and I've never felt drawn to going to the gym. I love outdoor exercise like muddy trail running to keep my cardio up and doing yoga on the backyard lawn to relax. My main challenge right now is making sure I consciously choose good, healthy food and not just go for sugary cakes and pastries because I can. I've recently started drinking matcha and it's incredible the difference it's made to my energy levels!

It works! At work we have a shuttle service to take us to another parking lot for work. The lady was taking forever, so I thought it would be the perfect day to walk. I walked to our other parking lot with my heavy laptop, purse, and lunch bag (I told myself those were my weights). It works though, all we have to do is take it one day at a time.

I’ve never really liked working out or going to the gym, so I’m a huge supporter of incidental exercise and I try to walk as much as possible. I’m also working on becoming more disciplined with my yoga practice.
I’ve never tried home workout videos, but I’d like to try the ones you posted here as they look like they could be pretty fun.
Thanks for the awesome reminder that commitment and determination are key to reaching our goals. I couldn’t agree more! 🙂

Early morning working are the pits till they are done and dusted. I found if you roll out of bed and get to the gym and do the workout (before your brain kicks in with excuses) then you don’t have to worry about making excuses during the day to not exercise!
