I know we all see numerous of ads talking about how to lose weight, how to get a big booty, how to obtain abs, how to eat healthy, what and what not to wear, and the list goes on.
I’m guilty of trying new diets that promises to give me that slim look that I oh so badly crave. In reality, I put on double the amount of weight. Going to the doctor and being told that I’m between obese and overweight was heartbreaking. Especially when you thought you were doing everything right to lose weight.
I slowly but surely started comparing myself to the people that I seen on TV and social media websites. I even asked God why he made me this way. One day, I was reading a chapter out of the bible and it talked about how God created all of us differently, and that he didn’t make any mistake when he created us.
I started evaluating my eating habits and the kind of food I put into my body. I also started figuring out that stress causes me to gain a lot of weight, so I had to figure out ways to not stress. I stopped eating pork and I started eating breakfast in the morning, and more fruits and vegetables. I do a lot of walking when I can and I started detoxing with fruit.
As time went on, I noticed that I was losing weight, and that I would eventually reach my target goal in no time.
The reason I’m writing this post is because, we often compare ourselves to other people. We look a what others have and what they look like, and we talk ourselves into believing that we are less than. When in reality, that’s not true. God made every single living being different for a reason, and we shouldn’t compare ourselves to each other. If losing weight is something we desire, then maybe we should take a look at our eating habits, exercise at least 30 minutes a day, and drink plenty of water.
Sometimes we need to realize DNA plays a huge factor in what we will look like when we lose the weight. Not everyone is designed to be a size two. We need to learn to be happy with the way God created us to be and stop looking at who God created someone else to be. I will admit, it took me a while to be happy with the way I look. But when I read that chapter in the bible, it opened my eyes. I no longer crave to be or look like someone else. I only aspire to be myself!
My challenge to you all is to compliment yourself when you first wake up in the morning and tell yourself you’re going to be a better version of yourself everyday!
